Last night’s concert at ARMA museum featuring Indonesian rock-fusion guitar icon Dewa Budjana and legendary guitarist John McLaughlin a.k.a. Mahavishnu of Shakti fame (and now with his current band 4th Dimension) sold out in a flash. Budjana, up first with his group of handpicked Indonesian musicians, had his Indonesian fans and expats on their feet.

Bass player Shadu thumps it out on his six string bass
19 year old Yandi totally wowed the crowd
Then it was time for a break during which John McLaughlin presented Dewa Budjana with a guitar for Budjana’s upcoming guitar museum in Ubud.

Then it was 4th Dimension’s turn to totally blow the crowd away. What a concentrated super dose of talent they brought to the ARMA open stage.
Legendary maestro, John McLaughlin aka Mahavishnu still ripping at 73!!!
Ranjit Barot, percussionist and vocalist extraordinaire
Etienne Mbappe, described by McLaughlin as “The world’s best bassist”, hits it.
The maddeningly multi-talented keyboardist/percussionist/composer Gary Husband jumps on a second set of drums doubling up with Ranjit for a vocal-percussion duet that had the crowd on their feet.
And the final piece-de-resistance: a duet with Duaji (Budjana) and Guruji (McLAughlin) had the fans ectstatic.
What a night!
