Once upon a time, cycling was the primary form of transport around Ubud, and lately there’s been a small revival in the popularity of bicycles, with an increase in rental outlets. Rent will cost less than Rp50,000 a day.
The roads in the Ubud town centre are easy to ride around in, though some level of fitness is required for going further into the hilly regions. Be very careful when cycling in town. The traffic is heavy at certain times of day, and most drivers are looking and listening out for cars and motorbikes rather than bicycles. Bikes come at the low end of the pecking order! Make sure your bicycle has a bell for safety reasons.
