TEDx Ubud, alive and vibrant with astonishing, riveting, and inspiring speakers has become an must-attend, established annual event in this town. TEDxUbud returns to Bali on Saturday, May 28th, 2016, with the theme ‘Small Things, Great Things’. It will feature a selection of Indonesian and international leading thinkers, storytellers, and performers sharing their ideas with an audience of 300.

TEDxUbud licensee, Daniela Burr, says the partnership growth is testament to the rise in both the enthusiasm for the brand of TED within Indonesia. “We are delighted with the level of support for the event; with each year it grows in popularity exponentially. Without the in-kind and financial support TEDxUbud receives, it would not exist. The brands associating with TEDxUbud are the thought, design and technological leaders in their respective fields,” she said.

The event returns to its home at Fivelements Puri Ahimsa, once named in a list of the 14 best TEDx venues worldwide. The venue’s commitment to environmental stewardship is without compare and permeates the entire event, from the organic and locally sourced food eaten by participants, to the waste management system in place to deal with an event of this magnitude.

And now the “bad” news: The live venue has been completely sold out for months.

But the good news is that for the first time TEDxUbud  will hold a live viewing event, which is being produced in collaboration with Rumah Sanur, a creative hub based in Sanur, Bali.

The whole day will be broadcasted live on the big screen and attendees will get to meet a few special guests (including 2016 speakers!) who will come down to Sanur from Ubud after their talks. Delicious food and coffee from the amazing folks at Kopi Kultur will be served.

Tickets are Rp 150,000 (lunch and coffee included) and can be bought here:

The confirmed speaker lineup for TEDxUbud 2016 includes: pioneers of biofuel in Bali, an Indian installation artist who uses biofeedback in her large scale work,  a New Zealand born contortionist fresh off a three year world tour, a Balinese man who bicycles through history, Indonesia’s first female Muslim stand up comedian, and a photographer who has mastered the art of high-low food.

Over the next couple of days Ubud Now and Then in cooperation with TEDxUbud will be posting the ful list of speakers.
