In 2014 Java Jazz Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary and has now become the biggest Jazz Festival in the world. For the first time ever, the Bali Live International Festival in association with the Java Jazz Festival, will take place just after Java Jazz Festival, from 3rd to 8th March 2014. This prestigious event with an additional five days of pre-events, will feature world famous international acts from the Java Jazz line-up and other international artists, as well as the best local talent from Bali and other parts of Indonesia.
‘Until now there has not been a yearly event providing a platform to showcase local talent, as well as attract high profile international artists to perform in Bali,’ said Jed (Ias) Balaskas, a music promoter from Ubud’s Jazz Cafe. ‘We believe that this festival will provide that, whilst promoting Bali and adding attraction for foreign and domestic tourists during the low season.’
The program will consist of five nights of pre-events featuring bands from the festival line-up, at a selection of premiere live music venues around the island. These venues will include the Jazz Café in Ubud, Hard Rock Café in Kuta, Ryoshi House of Jazz in Seminyak, Mozaic Beach Club in Kerobokan, SOS Anantarain Seminyak, Uma Cucina in Ubud, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa & the Meridian Hotel in Jimbaran.
The festival will be an all day open air concert at Taman Bhagawan, an iconic and idyllic ocean-front venue for events in Tanjung Benoa on Saturday 8th March from 2pm- 12am (doors open at 1pm). Festival guests will enjoy the beautiful Balinese style setting of Taman Bhagawan, with direct access to a 100-metre stretch of white sand beach in the charming village of Tanjung Benoa which is just 5 mins drive from the exclusive Nusa Dua tourists enclave, 20 mins drive from the airport and 30 mins from Seminyak, Kuta or Denpasar.
The concert will feature up to 6 international bands or artists selected from the Java Jazz line-up, as well as 6 Indonesian bands and other International Artists. This will be an all day event featuring all of the acts playing consecutively on one stage, performing a 30 minute – 1.5 hour set each. This will be followed by an all star Jam Session and after-party at a venue to be confirmed.
‘Our goal is to elevate the music scene in Bali to a new level of recognition and put Bali on the map in the same way that Java Jazz has done so in Jakarta.’ said Jed (Ias) Balaskaswho is organizing the musicians on behalf of Ubud’s Jazz Café.
This vision is shared by our associates on this project; the Java Jazz Festival, as well as numerous organizations in Bali who will support this event, including the Bali Tourism Board and Polda Bali.
